BLUE JEW WHY ARE WE AT WAR?: WHY ARE WE AT WAR WITH ISIS?

Why are we fighting ISIS?
The Middle East is a mess, partially due to Bush and Cheney's asinine adventure in Iraq, but also in large part because of a religious zealotry run amok.  There is damn near nothing we can do to influence the various sects.  Until now, each country in the region seemed intent on doing what it could to foster its particular flavor.  There has been little incentive for any of them to do otherwise, nor have any disincentives been applied from the broader international community.
I think there might be a couple of large opportunities in this mess.  For example, suppose the US says to the countries in the region something to the effect that unless they are willing to put the manpower and resources into dealing with ISIS, we will stand down.  And mean it.  The risk, of course, is that ISIS continues to grow and expand, and could subsume parts of the surrounding states, or perhaps swallow them in their entirety.  This could result ultimately in a threat to the US, but the danger is much more imminent to the region.  Which strikes me as a powerful incentive.
The second opportunity is the possibility of a better relationship with Iran.  Even before the rise of ISIS, it seemed there were signs that such an improvement was not only possible, but some minor steps were already being taken.  I can't imagine Iran being an ally, at least in the near term, but if we could somehow encourage them to take a constructive role in resolving the ISIS crisis and make a positive effort to reduce sectarian tensions throughout the region, it would go far toward mitigating current conditions and reduce the perceived need for US intervention.
So, again I put the question:  What are we doing getting involved once again in the Middle East?

DOESN'T THAT SOUND LIKE WAR?

WHEN DID WE GET BACK INTO YET ANOTHER COUNTRIES WAR?

HERE'S A CLUE HOW TO STOP TERRORISM:

STOP BEING TERRORISTS!@!!
